As a physician, medical policy expert, and public health advocate, Dr. Scott Gottlieb brings a great deal of knowledge and experience to his new role as Commissioner of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). During his plenary remarks at The MedTech Conference, Dr. Gottlieb discussed some of the FDA’s recent achievements, its current priorities and potential opportunities for further regulatory innovation.

Every day, innovative medical technologies make a positive difference in the lives of patients worldwide, but serious barriers often keep the world’s most economically challenged populations from ever seeing those technologies or their benefits. That is why The MedTech Conference added a new Innovations in Global Health Program, aimed at identifying ways to accelerate innovation and support the deployment of affordable and appropriate medical technologies in the developing world. As part of that program, TEAMFund and MedTech Innovator teamed up to present the Global Health Innovator Award to an innovative startup addressing global health needs: Shift Labs.

The MedTech Conference is officially underway! Day 1 was packed with educational programming, technology demonstrations and networking with peers from across the world.

A number of leading UK clinicians and pioneering medical companies will be visiting The MedTech Conference in a bid to forge lasting relationships and drive sales for UK products.

The mission, which is supported by the UK Government, aims to strengthen export links between the UK and San Jose and create demand for UK designed healthcare technologies.

Exciting news from the AdvaMed team! The MedTech Conference will be held in Toronto, Ontario, in 2020 from October 5-7, marking the first time that the conference will be held outside of the U.S.

Thoughts from AdvaMed President and CEO Scott Whitaker: 

“Canada is becoming more and more of a medtech power each year,” said Scott Whitaker, president and CEO, AdvaMed. “The Canadian government’s Innovation Agenda and Ontario’s newly established Office of the Chief Health Innovation Strategist sent a strong signal that the country is open for business. The MedTech Conference and AdvaMed Accel are once again partnering with MedTech Innovator to host the MedTech Innovator Competition Finals, and we need your help to choose the winner! During the Tuesday afternoon plenary session, four finalist companies will present their technologies and compete for $500,000 in prizes and awards, which is where you come in: the competition finals are based on a live audience vote.

One-on-one partnering meetings at The MedTech Conference take place in the MedTech Connect Zone within our Exhibit Hall. The MedTech Connect Zone is open from 9am to 5:15pm on Tuesday, September 26, and from 8am to 12:30pm on Wednesday, September 27. When you book a meeting, you can base it off of the mutual availablity of the participants as well as the availablity of partnering suites.

As of today, we have just 40 days until The MedTech Conference powered by AdvaMed kicks off in San Jose!
